ROTA 92 is a design store that travels the Amazon by boat. Every item is drawn from the river route out of Manaus, and every sale sends books up that same route, because in the Amazon, rivers are the way to school. We are run by the students behind Readers of the Amazon, and every good we ship carries books with it.
A ROTA 92 é uma loja de design que viaja a Amazônia de barco. Cada venda envia livros rio acima, porque na Amazônia, o rio é o caminho para a escola.
Rota (route, PT) + 92 (DDD 92, the Amazonas area code) = the route into the Amazon.
The quiet part
that matters
Readers of the Amazon is an initiative founded by students at Mira Costa High School in California. We partner with Vaga Lume, the Brazilian NGO that has kept community libraries alive in rural Amazonas for 24 years, training local reading mediators and stocking shelves in communities reached only by river. Profits from every ROTA 92 good go to those libraries.
